Although chiropractors are well educated on spinal injuries', they are also trained to assess, diagnose and manage injuries to any part of the musculoskeletal system. This includes hips, knees, shoulders, ankles and wrists! If you have any complaints to these areas outside of the spine don't feel afraid to mention them on your visit!
No, you don't! Chiropractors do work close with GP's and Doctors but you don't need a referral to come and visit. We do accept Medicare referrals from GP's however.
The short answer is no. Sometimes depending on the severity of the injury it can be slightly uncomfortable to work through the initial treatment - including the soft tissue work and adjustments. But the chiropractors are trained to assess and use mild techniques in these cases to reduce any discomfort of the treatment. At Lifetime Chiropractic we treat with kindness and care, and all treatment will be adjusted depending on the patients tolerance and preference.
No, we don't prescribe or administer any medication. All our treatment aims at facilitating the body's natural ability to heal. We use natural recovery remedies such as ice/heat therapy, stretches/exercise and lifestyle modification to manage injuries and pain. If we believe you will benefit from medical intervention the chiropractor will refer you on to the appropriate practitioner such as your GP.
Each treatment plan will differ depending on the injury and goals of the patient. Often people expect to be fixed by one simple adjustment. Although getting adjusted is great, it does normally take time to fully correct an injury (especially chronic injuries). If you have any question about your treatment plan don't feel scared to raise them with your chiropractor on the initial examination or following treatment.
Yes we have a tyro machine to claim in the clinic, on the day of consult. If you have selected Chiropractic on your health insurance policy you will be covered. All polices may differ in terms of how much is covered, so if you are unsure best to get in touch with your insurance company first.
Not all injuries require extra imaging to make a diagnosis. Sometimes it is warranted to investigate the problem further, and your chiropractor will advise if this is the case for you on your visit.
